Hospitality students to receive practical training on Guestline’s cloud-based hospitality technology to set them in good stead for gainful employment
IUBH University of Applied Sciences, one of Germany’s leading hospitality and tourism universities, has joined forces with Guestline, European leader of cloud-based hospitality technology, to provide students with training on their Property Management System (PMS)*. On Friday, 13th March, the first training took place at the IUBH campus in Bad Honnef.
Students on the master´s program “International Hospitality Management” now get real-time access to and practical training on a hotel cloud PMS at university level as part of their curriculum. Delivered by Guestline's trainers each semester, the training program helps shape and enhance the student’s knowledge of operational and booking software that is commonplace in hotels for when they graduate and began their hotel careers.
“Our ultimate goal at IUBH is to provide our students with all knowledge necessary so that they are workplace-ready from the day of their graduation”, Prof. Dr. Gabriel Laeis, professor for Hospitality Management at IUBH commented. "Given that Guestline PMS is widely used by hotels globally, students will immediately be able to put their training and experience into practice when they enter the workplace. Many of our students go abroad on placements, so it is imperative that they be trained on a system that is familiar and recognised in different market places too.”
Andrew McGregor, CEO at Guestline, added “We’re delighted to be working with one of Europe’s leading hotel schools to equip students with the practical experience, knowledge and understanding of a hotel property management system so when they enter the workplace, they have the best skills and experience to gain employment. This is a bonus for hoteliers too as they will be recruiting staff who have already emulated real-life hotel experiences and are proficient on a system from day one. Attracting, training and retaining talent in the hospitality industry is a challenge for hoteliers so for students to be already trained on an effective and widely recognised platform is the best induction and preparation for their hotel career."
Additionally, Best Western Hotel Group Central Europe (who Guestline integrate with) are also working with the university to provide practical professional experience in the Group’s Central European hotels of the BW Hotel.
